High Availability Solutions

As part of a business continuity strategy many customers consider High Availability (HA) solutions. High Availability solutions provide for automatic failover of a system or network component in case of a malfunction. In many instances a high availability configuration can also be used to relief network or system congestion by creating a Load Balancing (LB) setup, which will distribute processing and communication across the computing environment. Such an environment allows for faster and more reliable access to your information and allows for information availability in case of a system component failure. So customers gain in Performance, Reliability and Availability.

Although BAIS' Datacenter is fully redundant, customers may consider additional high availability solutions at their component level. High Availability can be achieved at various system and/or network component levels. Our trained staff will collaborate with each customer, in order to choose and deploy the level of availability which seems most appropriate for their environment.

HA can be implemented at different levels of an infrastructure:

Network/Systems:

Network and System HA and LB at component level can be achieved using measures such as:

• Multiple/Alternative IP providers
• HSRP redundant gateway and dual network connections
• BGP dual connections for routing
• Redundant power to the equipment rack

Servers:

Failover and load balancing configurations on the server side may be a vital solution for your mission-critical applications. Many hardware and software solutions are available to fit the needs of any system setup.

• Clustered Firewalls (primary, secondary)
• Redundant Load Balancers
• Server Clustering
• Software Clustering Solutions 
• Database Failover

Storage:

Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions offer built-in redundancy, dynamic failover protection, automatic traffic rerouting capabilities, clustering, and other vital functions. A SAN infrastructure enables any-to-any connectivity between heterogeneous server and storage systems. Such a SAN solution can provide the needed high availability environment for your mission-critical operations.
