Scalable DS1/T1 Dedicated Access
Need
more BANDWIDTH for your mission-critical applications?
Need more bandwidth than a single or dual T1 solution can
provide? Looking to reduce costs on an existing DS3 circuit? Our scalable T1 solution is an excellent
choice for either need. Short of co-locating your server infrastructure in
our high-availability data center with massive paths to the Internet,
another alternative for getting more bandwidth and reliability is to
aggregate multiple
T1's into a single high-bandwidth pipe to the Internet.
Our
Scalable T1 solution can provide up to 8 full-rate T1's aggregated
into a single connection to the Internet. By multiplexing two or more T1
lines, this very scalable solution provides from 3 Mbps (dual T1)
to 12 Mbps (eight T1's) of bandwidth. Depending on the need for
throughput and/or reliability, this solution can be a better choice and
often less expensive than an equivalent DS3/T3 solution.
Finally a reasonable
priced higher bandwidth access solution that can bridge the gap between the limited availability and high costs of DS3/T3 services.
The Technology:
Inverse multiplexing is
the solution. Inverse multiplexing enables the transport of data at a
faster rate than T1, and less expensively than T3. In addition, the
technology provides built-in high-availability features that allow you to have a fault-tolerant
connection that supports continued connectivity despite the fact that single
or multiple T1 links may have failed (Self-Healing Fabric). Using QuickEagle DL3800
Inverse Multiplexers as the core technology platform this solution
connects high-speed data terminal or network equipment to multiple T1
links, providing aggregate data rates up to 12 Mbps. It receives
data on a single HSSI, V.35 or RS-449 interface and multiplexes the bit
stream into one aggregate pipe equal to the number of speeds of each T1
circuit or a transmission speed of Nx1.5 Mbps. The DL3800 T1 Inverse Multiplexer provides a scalable and
cost-effective alternative to leasing a DS3/T3 line. Or, in areas where
DS3/T3 links are not available or feasible, the DL3800 T1 Inverse
Multiplexer provides an excellent reliable and manageable solution to increasing
bandwidth demands beyond single or dual T1 capacity.
Main Features of DL3800:
- HSSI and V.35/RS-449
DTE interface
- Automatic bandwidth
response/recovery (Self-Healing Fabric)
- High bandwidth
transmission over one to eight T1 links
- Local or remote
management via the front panel, terminal, an embedded SNMP agent, or
WANview
- Extensive diagnostic
features: front-panel LEDs, built-in test loops, automatic self
test, and integral event log with non-volatile memory
- Downloadable
firmware/code
- Rackmount chassis

The following figure
shows the typical topology and connectivity scheme for a scalable T1
solution.

|
Note:
Two to Four T1 (2600 Router) configurations will have a V.35
Serial interface on the customer-premise side. |
Key Benefits:
- Scalable bandwidth and
throughput performance up to 12 Mbps
- Aggregates multiple T1's
into a single pipe.
- Multiple self-healing paths to
Internet
- Managed and monitored
solution, end-to-end
- Single point of contact for
support
- Lower cost alternative to
fractional DS3 circuits
Multiple T1 or Frame Relay
connections could also be terminated on separate carrier networks. This provisioning approach
reduces the possibility of a single Telco network failure disrupting
your connectivity to the global Internet.

Availability:
A T1-based solution can
be delivered to any location that has telephone services. In some cases,
wiring may not be readily available for multiple T1 lines (each T1
typically requires 2 pairs of copper wire). Check with your local
telephone company or telecommunications provider to determine if the
required facilities are available. This service requires copper
terminations on both ends of each T1 line. Fiber mux terminations or
end-links (hubs) are not supported (two channel terminations
required).
