Postini for Customer-Hosted Email Servers
Stop
Spam and Viruses Before They Reach Your Network... With Postini!
Postini's highly regarded SPAM and Virus blocking services
are now available to customers who host their own email services.
BayArea.net is pleased to announce the availability of SPAM filtering
and Virus blocking services for customer-hosted email services. Postini, is a leading anti-spam
and virus protection technology
provider fore the enterprise and is a recipient of PC Magazine's "Editors Choice
Award."
How does Postini work?
- Your incoming e-mail passes through a
meshed group of redundant BayArea.net "pre-Postini"
servers for validation and pre-processing. From these servers the
email is routed to Postini's automated filters, which are designed to detect suspected unsolicited
commercial e-mail (or SPAM and viruses that may threaten your
system or network.
- Any suspicious email is re-directed to
a users personalized, web-based, password-protected Message Center
(it does not arrive at an individual user
desktop or server in-box). Think of this as a quarantine area. In your
Message Center you can read the quarantined email online, delete it,
or deliver (forward) it to its original or alternate destination.
- Your users receive email notifications, with
login instructions, whenever suspicious messages are logged and
isolated on their personal Postini Message Center site.
- From their personalized Postini Message
Center users can read the email online, delete it, or deliver
(forward) it to your regular "me@bayarea.net" or "me@mydomain.com"
mailbox. From this site users can also setup the preferences for
SPAM and virus handling and sensitivity.
- Postini also lets
users "block"
specific senders (email from these senders will always be filtered
and blocked). Users can also "approve" senders (their email will always be
delivered).
- The BayArea.net implementation of Postini works on a
physical POP account user ID. Any email address or alias routed to this
user ID will be redirected through Postini's filtering.
- Postini service is private and secure.
Nobody has access to a user's e-mail but the you, the administrator, or
the individual users. The administrator controls the filter settings and
configuration parameters. Users can check on the filtered messages locked in
their Postini
Message Center at any time. Postini can also be easily turned off with
only two
mouse clicks.

Service Eligibility,
Availability, and Terms:
To deploy Postini support
for customer-hosted email services (your own domains and
internally-hosted email servers) there are two key requirements:
- A
Bayarea.net access account (other than a POP or Domain Parking
account) is required.
If you already have a BayArea.net account, then you're all set and can sign-up
for Postini services immediately. If you
don't have a BayArea.net access account, you'll need to sign-up for any of our
access services, which start at $15 per month for Web Hosting or $20 per
month for a Dial-up account. Once an account is opened, you may sign-up
for Postini support for your internally-hosted email server accounts
according to the pricing table above.
- Support
from BayArea.net is limited to interaction with only one individual
(Primary Technical Contact) from customer's organization. Customer
is required to provide their own Help Desk support to end-users of
Postini services. Customer's Primary Technical Contact may use
BayArea.net support services freely and unrestricted. BayArea.net
support personnel will only open tickets or respond to Postini
support requests from the Primary Technical Contact and no one else.
- A
minimum commitment of 25 Postini accounts is required for dedicated
customer-hosted Postini support.
